Aurora Educators Association
RESET Initiative
(Redefining Education Standards Equitably Together)
The RESET Initiative is a collaborative effort that is lead by OES to close equity gaps in a historic partnership between AEA and NAACP. RESET will shift and sustain practices that will directly impact Aurora's underserved students through equitable systems and structures. With the pandemic of COVID-19, these disparities are going to rapidly widen the opportunity gap for various reasons, including but not limited to access resources.
RESET will be a historic initiative that is a collaboration between two historically impactful organizations, National Education Association (NEA) and NAACP. Aligning these two great community-led organizations, will assure that the students and parents will feel confident knowing the intention is genuine because it is coming from the teachers and leaders in the Black community. This initiative will also create a great welcoming for Black teachers to join AEA. Upon Black teachers hearing of an initiative like RESET, it will build stronger confidence for them to join and be active. It will also increase current teachers' engagement and get more involved.

RESET Initiative
"OES and Dr. Auset, answered a huge call from the community and took the courageous step to create this initiative in partnership with the teachers union (AEA) and NAACP to end working in silos and actually work in collaboration. Ensuring the teachers are leading this work is vital because it is the teachers who are directly impacting our students. OES's commitment to eliminating anti-Black and oppressive practices is dynamic to observe and be a part of." RESET organizers
